YOTEL New York Hotel Review, United States
The roof terrace is great in fine weather for enjoying a cocktail or glass of wine, and a number of happy hour deals are available. A bar food menu (flatbread pizzas; sandwiches and light bites) is served here but the full Green Fig restaurant menu is also available, specialising in Middle Eastern dishes such as whole roasted cauliflower with tahini dip to start ($13 [£10]), mezze, and mains including flavoursome chicken ‘Marrakech’ with freekeh, labneh and homemade harissa ($27 [£22]).
My ‘aubergine chateau’, with lentils and veg ($24 [£20]), was plentiful though not hugely memorable. The crème brûlée with honey and lavender ($10 [£8]) was excellent. A good range of wines is available by the glass and waiters give confident recommendations. Breakfast is a modest but good-quality buffet of Bircher muesli, cornflakes, fruit, cheese, bagels and pastries, with hot options including a tasty vegetable scramble, seasoned fried potatoes, and pancakes, with tea and coffee served to the table.
