While Jennifer Lawrence is currently making news for her statements, fans can settle back and enjoy a throwback photo of the Hunger Games star. Shared on Instagram by a fan page, as she has no official Instagram account, the photo shows the gorgeous starlet clad in black lingerie, high heels, and with a throwback 70’s style hairdo. The whole ensemble looks like it was from an ad put out by Mad Men’s Sterling-Cooper ad agency.

Recently, Jennifer Lawrence has been making waves on social media due to a poorly thought-out statement regarding women in action films. Again, the tone-deaf opinion that threw aside over half a century of work by female action stars before her was, “I remember when I was doing Hunger Games, nobody had ever put a woman in the lead of an action movie, because it wouldn’t work, we were told.” The statement was made during an interview hosted by Variety, though it soon blew up with seemingly every news outlet weighing in on the, frankly, ignorant comment.

Thankfully, Jennifer Lawrence recognized the absurdity of what she said before Linda Hamilton, Sigourney Weaver, Pam Grier, Geena Davis, Uma Thurman, and every Charlie’s Angel ever, decide to correct her. In an apology, the action star behind The Silver Lining Playbook clarified she was happy women were blowing past the established barriers and getting action roles, brushing aside her stumble as simply nerves from talking to Viola Davis. As with most minor controversies, the incident was soon brushed aside, only to be brought up again every single time Lawrence appears in public.

Despite her tendency to be unapologetically frank and blunt in interviews, Jennifer Lawrence has had an incredible career in Hollywood, spanning YA adaptations to comic book franchises and award-winning dramatic pieces. In 2011, Lawrence took over the role of Mystique from Rebecca Romijn and would go on to play the shape-shifting mutant in four more X-Men films. At the same time, the actress played Katniss Everdeen in the blockbuster Hunger Games franchise and then was able to make the successful leap from franchise films to smaller, more intimate fare in a series of David O. Russel films.

From 2012 through 2015, Jennifer Lawrence was part of three films with the director, Silver Linings Playbook alongside Bradley Cooper, American Hustle with Christian Bale and Amy Adams, and the starring role in Joy as the business matriarch herself. Lawrence won an Oscar for each movie, Best Actress for Silver Linings Playbook and Joy, and Best Supporting Actress for American Hustle. After that series of highly successful roles, the actress took risks with her projects, including the surreal mother!, the erotic thriller Red Sparrow, and the comedic satire Don’t Look Up.

A new mother, Jennifer Lawrence gave birth to her first son, Cy, in February of this year, and she has started to slow down her acting roles. The film No Hard Feelings, a coming-of-age dramedy, is currently the only film that is on her public work schedule.
