RHOBH Denise Richards Is Recovering After Undergoing Emergency Surgery For Four Hernias

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Denise Richards revealed this week – via her husband Aaron Phypers’ Instagram post – that she underwent emergency surgery to repair for hernias! Phypers posted a series of pics of his wife in recovery, and he wrote in the caption that Richards is “getting stronger.”

Richards re-posted the pics, and she explained on her Instagram page that the surgery actually took place two months ago.

“This was a couple months ago and turned out to be a good lesson for me to always listen to my body,” wrote Richards. “Being a mom, wife and having a career, sometimes it’s easier to just be strong and power through.”

The mom-of-three added that she thought her pain and other symptoms would “just go away,” but they didn’t. Instead, everything got “a lot worse.”

After going to the doctor, Richards found out that she had two femoral hernias and two inguinal hernias. According to People Magazine, inguinal hernias are visible and sit at the top of the groin. But, femoral hernias are positioned lower near the femoral vein, and that makes them tougher to diagnose.

Richards says that she regrets that she waited so long to tell her husband how bad she was feeling, and she knows “it was stupid” to do so. She explained that we should always listen to our bodies and take care of ourselves.

Phypers praised his wife for her beauty, perseverance, and dedication in everything she does, and he called her “the most incredible woman” and his “soulmate.” He added that he waited for six hours close by while she was in surgery, and finished his caption by declaring his love for his wife.

Earlier this year, Richards told her fans that she had an enlarged thyroid after some of them noticed it during the Season 9 RHOBH reunion. She said that it was something that she had ignored until it was pointed out. Richards ended up changing her diet by eliminating gluten, and she couldn’t believe the improvement.

“I had no idea how much our diet really can affect our body and for me how toxic gluten really is…I thank all of you who sent me messages,” wrote Richards.
