Tragically, the body of a missing three-year-old boy named Mykell Richardson has been discovered in a body of water near his residence in Elkton, Cecil County, Maryland.

The Cecil County Sheriff’s Office confirmed this information, revealing that Mykell had gone missing on Sunday, prompting an extensive search effort by the police.

The young child, who was last seen between 3:30 PM and 4:30 PM yesterday, has been found today (May 15) shortly before 3:00 PM. The Massachusetts State Police have confirmed that the body of the toddler was discovered around 12:30 PM on Monday. The young boy, who was nonverbal and had autism, was playing with his older sister and grandfather at a park on Castle Island near the water around 7 PM on Sunday when he went missing.

After being unable to locate the toddler, his grandfather urgently contacted 911 to report his grandson missing. The body of the child was eventually found at Spectacle Island, which is located directly across the water from Castle Island.

In a statement on Monday afternoon, Massachusetts State Police spokesman Dave Procopio stated, “Troopers from the MSP Special Emergency Response Team and State Police Detective Unit for Suffolk County were transported to the island by the Marine Unit, and they have confirmed the body to be Mohamed.”

“State Police Crime Scene Services also responded to document the scene of the recovery.

“Mohamed will be brought to shore and transferred to the custody of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.”
