Stiles was famous for his lobster-like hands but became infamous for his volatile temper. He was married three times and was known to have been violent toward his wives and his children. When his daughter became engaged, Stiles became so enraged that he shot and killed the groom the day before the wedding. He was found guilty but escaped a prison sentence because the prison said that it didn't have facilities to accommodate him. So he was given a 15 year probation.
