Future Gets Emotional Over The Death Of Juice WRLD Never Wanted To Influence Him To Use Drugs

Future’s name may be in the mouths of many men and women but the rapper barely speaks unless it’s with a few words via Instagram Stories. The rapper recently interviewed with XXL where he was the most vulnerable that he’s ever been.

This is due to a part of the talk where late rapper Juice WRLD is brought up. The 20-year-old overdosed four months ago at a Chicago airport after ingesting multiple pills to hide from federal agents.

Juice cited that Future was the one who made him try drugs in the first place when he listened to his music growing up. The Mask Off singer was one of his favorites and the two even collaborated on a full-length album titled WRLD on Drugs.

The Lucid Dreams artist lamented that he constantly struggled with addiction and often spoke out about trying to become sober. He didn’t want his fans to go down the same route that he did.

Future feels the same way but unfortunately, the death of Juice weighs heavily on his shoulders.

While speaking to the magazine, Future admitted: ‘It was heartbreaking about Juice. Still to this day, I’m heartbroken. Rest in peace to Juice Wrld. He’s a great artist. He had so much more to do.’

He also directly addressed his feelings about being a bad influence.

‘Me having an influence on that, I just feel like…that is not my intention. My intention was just to be me. I’m just being me and what you get from it is what you get from it, but at the same time, I wouldn’t want no one to go through anything to harm theyself or to bring death to theyself and Juice Wrld is a touchy situation. I’m heartbroken by the whole thing. My heart goes out to his family, his mom.’

The hip-hop/rap industry is taking a lot of heat for glamorizing substance abuse but there definitely is some unfairness surrounding the conversation. The saying goes ‘Sex, Drugs and Rock and Roll’ because the rockstar lifestyle has always been about and talked about using drugs and alcohol.

This is something Future also touched on.

‘It was so many people that came before me that talked about drugs from rock ‘n’ roll stars to pop stars to people aware of other artists going to rehabs and aware of other artists’ overdose and there is so many other people that was a part of this world way before me.’

Hopefully, artists in all genres one day make the effort to stop glorifying drug use in their music.
