First look at Marvel's Jessica Jones

The next Marvel film, Captain America: Civil War, won’t premiere until May, but the good news is that more Marvel heroes are coming soon to your streaming queue.  The first official images for Marvel’s upcoming Netflix series, Jessica Jones, have been released and the anticipation has reached a new level.

The series is based on the comic series “Alias” by Brian Michael Bendis, and it follows Jessica Jones after a tragic ending to her short lived superhero stint as she rebuilds her personal life and career as a detective who gets pulled into cases involving people with extraordinary abilities in New York City.

Jessica Jones stars Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones (who we have seen play hard edged characters in Breaking Bad and Don’t Trust the B in Apartment 23), David Tennant as Kilgrave (aka The Purple Man), Mike Colter as Luke Cage (set to begin his story here and continue on in his own series), Carrie-Anne Moss as Harper, and Rachel Taylor as Trish Walker, among others.

Marvel’s Jessica Jones on Netflix is executive produced by series show runner Melissa Rosenberg (known for her work in Twilight and Dexter) and Liz Friedman (Elementary), along with Jeph Loeb (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Smallville, Heroes), who also serves as Marvel’s Head of Television.

The Netflix series is the second of Marvel’s four epic live-action adventure series, following after the Netflix hit, Daredevil, which will then lead to Luke Cage and Iron Fist. After each has starred in their own series, they are set to join forces on The Defenders. Commence the fangirling!

If this series will be anything like Daredevil, Marvel fans are set to get a darker and bloodier tone with Jessica Jones and the rest of the upcoming series, than they have received from Marvel films.

The teaser trailer for Marvel’s comic series, Jessica Jones, was released last week with the tagline, “It’s time the world knew her name,” and I for one, am already getting chills! The Netflix series is set to premiere on Nov. 20 with the release of all 13 episodes.
