CNN anchor Anderson Cooper shows off his Brazilian vacation home
Anderson Cooper opened the doors to his Brazilian vacation home in the new issue of Architectural Digest.
The CNN anchor reveals that he made the decision to buy the tropical property, located in the town of Trancosco, with pal Andy Cohen and longtime partner Ben Masiani in 2013, despite the fact that it is a 14 hour journey from his Manhattan townhouse.
'Within a day I was fantasizing about buying a house there,' said Cooper.
'Ben thought I’d lost my mind, and Andy, who is encouraging about almost everything, thought I was nuts, too.'

'People often talk about what a magical place this is. That word always irks me—I don’t trust it somehow,' explains Cooper.
'But I’ve worked in 70 countries and traveled to even more, and I’ve never seen anything like Trancoso. It’s a real place, not a Potemkin village for tourists.'

ShareCooper, 49, was eventually able to secure a vacant lot and get to work on building his dream home. Or, rather, homes, with the property containing four different structures.
There are two bungalows for guests that visit, a third contains the living and dining rooms and a kitchen, and the fourth is a two-story tree house that has an outdoor living room and bar beneath the master bedroom.
The estate is known as Casa Anderson.
It is not just Cooper who loves the home either, with Cohen paying a visit to his friend over Easter last year and posting photographs on Instagram from his trip.

Casa Anderson is one of three homes owned by Anderson, who in addition to his New York City home (which is a converted firehouse) also has an estate in Connecticut.
Cooper and Maisani, 43, have been together for seven years, though there were rumors of a possible split in 2012 when Maisani was photographed kissing another man in a New York City park.
Just one day after the release of those photos however Cooper headed out on vacation with pals Kelly Ripa and Marc Consuelos and brought along Miasani, laying those rumors to rest.
In addition to his job on CNN, Cooper is also a contributor to the popular news magazine 60 Minutes. There is also talk he may join Ripa as the co-host of Live later this year.
Maisani is a partial owner of New York City bars including Bedlam Bar & Lounge, Eastern Bloc and Atlas Social Club.
